The purpose of establishing residential Child Care Institutions is to provide free facilities of food, clothes, education and medicine etc. to the children in need of care, protection and rehabilitation and children in conflict with law. These CCIs are registered under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Model Rules, 2016 so as to ensure that facilities and programmes operate at acceptable levels, as mandated by the said Act. Child Care Institutions include Observation Homes, Special Homes, Place of Safety, Children Homes and Special Adoption Agency(SAA) as mandated under Section 47, 48, 49 and 65, respectively of the said Act.
